The government has agreed to include In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment under the Medical Attendance cum Allowance (MACA) Rules, bringing significant relief to employees seeking advanced fertility treatment. The decision follows long-standing demands from employees’ associations and medical experts.
According to officials, the inclusion of IVF under MACA rules will enable eligible beneficiaries to seek financial reimbursement or assistance for fertility-related medical procedures, which are often expensive and inaccessible for many families. The move is expected to reduce the financial burden on couples undergoing infertility treatment.
Health and administrative authorities stated that detailed guidelines regarding eligibility, reimbursement limits, and approved medical institutions will be issued separately. The decision reflects the government’s recognition of infertility as a medical condition requiring proper support under existing healthcare frameworks.
Employee groups have welcomed the move, calling it a progressive step toward inclusive healthcare policies. The inclusion of IVF under the Medical Attendance cum Allowance Rules is expected to benefit a large number of government employees and their dependents.
