A drug de-addiction awareness programme was organised at Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, Bemina, (Cluster University Srinagar).
The event was part of awareness campaign of the college to prevent drug abuse. On the occasion Dr. Nasreen Aman, principal of the college highlighted objectives of the event and presented scenario of drug abuse in Kashmir.
Dr. Sameer of Psychiatric department highlighted biological activity of using drugs in excessive quantity. Prominent religious scholars Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi and Mufti Muhammad Sultan underscored the need to control drug menace which is spreading fast among youth.
Later, an interactive session was held with students. The organisers in a statement said the main aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the student community to take necessary steps for curbing the drug menace
The programme was conducted by Dr. Tanveer Andrabi, department of chemistry of the host college. The programme was organised by the college Eco and Health club in association with Helping Hands Srinagar Kashmir.
