Srinagar: Members of the new body of Kashmir University Officers Association (KUOA) were administered oath of office at a function in the administrative block of the varsity on Wednesday.
Deputy Registrar Syed Mubarik Ahmad assumed office as the president while four more office bearers and three executive members also took oath.
Dr Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Chief Coordinator DIQA who acted as the retuning officer KUOA Elections 2017, administered oath of office to the newly elected members in presence of a select gathering.
A post graduate in commerce as well as in management studies, Mubarik has earlier served in various capacities in the University of Kashmir. He has supervised internal audit of the university, various accountancy branches and initiated the process of double entry system and compilation of financial statements.
Mrs Asmat Kawoosa , Deputy Registrar took oath as Vice President , Showkat Shafi , Dy. Director DIQA as General secretary , Faheem Aslam Pro to Hon’ble VC as Media Secretary, and Hamiduallh Bhat Assistant Register as treasurer . Besides Dr Feroz Ahmad Gurkoo , Dy. Registrar , Abdul Rashid Sofi Assistant Registrar and Dr Sheik Mohammad Imran, Assistant librarian took oath as executive members of the Association.
Earlier Dr Manzoor Ahmad Shah Chief Coordinator, Chief Librarian Dr A M Baba, President KUTA Prof Mohammad Husain, President KUMSA Abdul Rashid Mir, Joint Controller Dr M Y Bhat , spoke about the importance of associations in the life of employees and the education institutions as a such .
Established in 1988, KUOA strives to work for the administrative efficiency and academic excellence, to promote good governance and close coordination between University officers and students and making higher education relevant to the society at large. KUOA also strives to work for the welfare of the officers and contribute in helping the University of Kashmir achieve excellence in all fields. It has some 70 officers as members who are working at key positions in the main campus and the satellite campuses of the university.
