SKIMS advertises junior, senior resident posts

Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences today announced a walk-in interview for posts of junior as well as senior residents at the institute.
In order to address the emergency that has arisen out of the resident doctors’ strike, SKIMS on Monday issued two advertisements for posts of junior and senior residents at the institute. The posts of junior residents had been abolished by the previous director but were recently revived by the incumbent director Prof Omar Javed Shah.
The advertisements, while referring to the ongoing strike of resident doctors of SKIMS, said “due to prevailing and unavoidable circumstances”, decision to conduct walk-in interviews had been taken. Applications have been invited on plain paper and recruitment process would be live for three days, starting 16 May 2018.
The adverts were issued Monday evening after RDA SKIMS refused to call of the on-going strike following meeting with the institute administration.
“The administration has not addressed our demands and has in fact tried to divide the resident staff,” representatives of SKIMS RDA said. “We will continue our strike till all our demands, for all the residents, post graduate or others, are not met,” they said.
The demands include restoration of pay band at par with AIIMS and PGI, application of 7th pay commission and timely release of arrears.
