Sealing of shops at Batwara resented

Senior National Conference leader and former MLC Ghulam Qadir Pardesi on Wednesday condemned sealing of some shops falling under the domain of Badamibagh Cantonment.
In a statement, Pardesi said that authorities at Badamibagh Cantonment are putting “unwarranted pressure on the locals.”
“Few weeks back, BB Cantonment authorities unauthorizedly sealed shops in Batwara without any prior notice or without rehabilitation of those who have been earning their livelihood for past forty years,” the statement said.
“The authorities are harassing locals and asking them strange questions as how they built up their residential houses. The fact is that all these people have constructed any residential or commercial structure after getting requisite permission from authorities under law,” it adds.
It said that a joint delegation of various localities falling under the domain of BB cantonment Board called on Pardesi at his residence and demanded redressal of these issues.
As per statement, Pardesi said people in the Cantonment area have been living in the area for decades. “Even during the course of hostile situation, the locals have maintained peace in the area,” he said.
Pardesi has appealed divisional administration to look into the matter so that people of area are not subjected to “unwarranted harassment and agony.”
