Kashmir converted into a killing field by Delhi: Hurriyat

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference on Friday said New Delhi’s “haughty and stubborn” approach has given rise to a war-like situation in Kashmir and accused it of trampling human rights and converting J&K into a “killing field”.
“India has never demonstrated seriousness and good faith in resolving the Kashmir issue,” Hurriyat said in a statement issued here.
“Kashmiris are also human beings and their rights are same as that of other people in world. However, India is not showing any honour or respect for (the) fundamental human values,” the conglomerate said. “People in Jammu Kashmir are resenting and resisting foreign occupation, just like people of other countries in other parts of world.”
Hurriyat said the international community is obliged to support Kashmiris and should “feel our pain and come to the rescue of suppressed people in (the) state”.
Blaming the international community for its “incompetence”, Hurriyat said the lingering Kashmir issue if not resolved, will prove disastrous for the whole subcontinent.
Hurriyat added, “India is desperate to suppress our genuine and legitimate demand with its military might but failed, and therefore, put in service its NIA sleuths to harass and implicate (the) leadership in fabricated cases and maligning (the) ongoing freedom movement (by) labelling it as terrorism.”
“Truth will come to fore as lie has no legs to stand. It is better for New Delhi to fulfill (its) commitment made with (the) people (of Jammu Kashmir),” Hurriyat said.
Meanwhile, the joint resistance leadership on Friday staged a protest at Hyderpora here to condemn the NIA raids, detentions, use of “brute” force against innocent people, forces’ “highhandedness” and killings in valley particularly in south Kashmir.
The leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers..
