JRL leaders, activists protest against civilian killings

Leaders and activists associated with joint resistance leadership (JRL) Monday staged protest here against killing of three civilian including a girl in army firing in Kulgam district on Saturday.  
Meanwhile, in a joint statement, JRL comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik stated that the “forces first kill innocent Kashmiris including minors and later justify their acts by calling the slain as stone throwers.” 
“Forces claim is far from the truth. We urge the international community to take serious note of the genocide being committed by the lakhs of forces who are laced with the draconian AFSPA,” they said. 
According to the statement, leaders and activists affiliated with JRL including Hilal War from Hurriyat Conference (M), advocate Bashir Ahmed Bhat from JKLF and Umar Adil from Hurriyat Conference (G) assembled at Abi Guzar along with dozens of other leaders and activists staged protest. The leaders were holding placards displaying the pictures of 12-year-old Andleeb who was killed in army firing at Kulgam recently along with two other youth.
The other JRL leaders and activists who took part in the protest included Ghulam Nabi Zaki from, Umar Adil Dar, Ghulam Rasool Dar Eidi, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Saleem Zargar, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Abdul Rashid Hakim, Farooq Ahmad Sodagar, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Bashir Ahmad Boya, Abdul Rashid Lone and many others. 
“We demand punishment to the soldiers involved in the killing of Andleeb and two youth,” they said. As the protestors marched towards Lal Chowk, police swung into action and bundled several protesting leaders and activists in police vehicles and lodged them in the preventive custody.
Those who were detained by the police included advocate Bashir Ahmed Bhat, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Umar Adil Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Abdul Rashid Lone, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Farooq Ahmed Sodagar, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Maqbool Tiploo, Basharat Ahmed Butt. 
Meanwhile, in a joint statement, the JRL leadership said that “innocent blood being spilled by forces in Kashmir is nothing but a move to crush Kashmiri resistance.” “We want to ask the forces that why innocent Andleeb was killed in cold blood. What was her crime and did not she also deserve life?”
