DC Srinagar inspects dewatering measures


Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed, Tuesday morning toured around various areas of the summer capital to inspect dewatering efforts following heavy rains which lead to water-logging at various areas.
The DC while inspecting the dewatering efforts instructed the concerned departments to enhance their efforts and ensure quickest possible draining-out of water from all water-logged areas including all interior roads and lanes. Speaking on the occasion, he said water-logging as a result of rains throws a major challenge in the district and that several departments have been pressed into service for dewatering efforts at all waterlogged areas in the city.
Dr Shah also visited various Downtown areas including Babadem, Kawdara, Saraf Kadal, Rajouri Kadal, Kadi Kadal, Khwaja Bazar, Khanyar and Rainawari on the occasion and took stock of water-logging situation and dewatering efforts underway there.
It was informed that besides all dewatering stations, mobile pumping stations as well as fire pumps and tenders have also been pressed into service for dewatering efforts at various areas in the City.
“The general public have been asked to report dewatering requirements at helpline number 7051112345,” an official statement. Senior officers from all concerned departments accompanied the DC on the occasion.
