12th Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup 2: GDC Ganderbal lifts title trophy


SRINAGAR: Government Degree College(GDC) Ganderbal defeated GDC Baramulla by 10 runs in the finals of 12th Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup played at Islamia College grpond onnThursday.
GDC Baramulla skipper won the toss and invited opposite team to bat first
GDC Ganderbal openers provided a solid start to their side and their good work was carried forward by the middle order batsmen as GDC Ganderbal put a formidable total of 200 runs on the board in their stipulated 25 overs.
Aqib Parray(55) and Aqib Manzoor (54) were the main run scorers for GDC Ganderbal. Mudasir took three and Junaid 1 wicket for Baramulla team.
In-pursuit of herculean target of 201 runs Baramulla College team fell short of the target by 10 runs and lost the match.
For Baramulla team Junaid and Tajamul scored 57 and 45 runs respectively. For GDC Ganderbal Danish and Hussain took three wickets each.
Tajamul of GDC Baramulla was adjudged the man of the tournament.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Abid Rashid Shah who was the Chief Guest on the prize distribution ceremony gave away the prizes and medals to the players.
The tournament was organised by the Department of Physical Education of Islamia College of Science and Commerce in which 15 colleges teams participated.
