The government has ordered the closure of all government and private schools in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir on Saturday.
The decisions in this regard were taken by the respective Deputy Commissioners in view of the inclement weather.
However, DDC Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone told Greater Kashmir that all the schools in city will remain open. “We don’t have any such situation to announce holiday for tomorrow,” Lone said.
Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr. Shah Faesal said the respective DCs have the authority to declare holiday for schools in their respective districts.
“They can take decisions as per the prevailing conditions in their districts. But we can’t order mass closure of schools in valley,” he said.
The schools in Gurez zone of Bandipora district will also remain closed in view of inclement weather conditions.
