Hitting out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today asked her not to resort to rhetoric and get the petition seeking abrogation of Article 35-A withdrawn from Supreme Court.
“There is no fun in issuing statements on protection of Article 35-A by Chief Minister as the ball is in the court of central command of BJP,” said vice president, JKPCC, GN Monga.
“In case there is assurance, centre should have released a statement or PMO must have mentioned it in its press briefing. But unfortunately, other than Mehbooba’s rhetoric, we haven’t heard of any assurance from the central government particularly BJP which is main architect of this petition seeking abrogation of Article 35-A , ” he said.
“Congress will never allow anybody to fiddle with special status and their party would reach out to the people of the state to aware them about Article 35- A of the Constitution, which entitles exclusive property rights to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Meanwhile, Congress today expressed serious concern over the present prevailing situation in the State especially in Kashmir saying it is due to “wrong policies” of the ruling dispensation in the State.
“Both PDP and BJP are responsible for the current fiasco in the State. Despite being in power, both PDP and BJP are contradicting each other in order to hoodwink people to serve their vested interests, but the matter of fact is that both parties are playing with the emotions for power,” JKPCC president GA Mir said chairing a meeting.
