Tension in Shopian, 3 injured during CASO

A 37-year-old-man was critically wounded while two others suffered injuries when the government forces used force to curb protest that broke out in a village in Shopian on Friday during a cordon-and-search-operation to look for militants.
Eyewitnesses said that Fayaz Ahmad Padroo, a resident of Poterwal village, received a bullet in his abdomen, while Suhail Ahmad Mir was shot in his arm during clashes that erupted when the search operations were in progress in the Tangwani-Tukroo village.
They said that as the forces laid a siege around the village, scores of youth took to streets and pelted them (forces) with stones and bricks.
“As clashes intensified, the forces first resorted to teargas shelling and then opened fire, injuring three civilian” they added.
An eyewitness, however, alleged that army men from a bunker vehicle fired directly into the stone-throwing crowd in the Tukroo village. An official at district hospital Pulwama said that they received two injured men on Friday afternoon. “We referred Fayaz Ahmad Padroo and Suhail Ahmad Mir with fire arm injuries to SMHS for specialised treatment”
