Srinagar-Leh highway restored for light vehicles

Traffic was restored partially on Srinagar-leh highway after remaining suspended since last night following fresh snowfall in the area.
The highway was closed for traffic last night after fresh snowfall in Zojila and Sonamarg areas.
Officials said that around two dozen vehicles travelling from Kargil to Srinagar were trapped in Zojila area and were rescued by the traffic authorities today after which light motor vehicles were allowed to move from Sonamrag to Drass.
Liyaqat Qadri DSP traffic Ganderbal told Greater Kashmir that 103 light motor passenger vehicles stranded at Sonamarag were allowed to move towards Drass today afternoon.
“The movement of vehicles in Zojila area for Friday depends upon the weather conditions and authorities will take the decision for the same later," he said.
