Shutdown affects life in Kashmir

Life was affected in Kashmir valley on Saturday due to a strike call issued by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against civilian killings.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed in commercial hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar while the movement of public transport was affected.
However, private vehicles were plying normally.
Reports of shutdown were also received from other district headquarters of the Valley.
JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for shutdown today against the killings of civilians by the government forces.
Restrictions were imposed in parts of Downtown Srinagar to prevent protests and rallies against the killings.
JKLF Chief Yasin Malik was arrested from his residence earlier today while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest yesterday. Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under house arrest.
