Man accused of molestation arrested in Handwara after nine years: Police


An absconder allegedly wanted in a 2008 molestation case was arrested from his home in remote Hatchmarg village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, police said
The accused, identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Badana ( 28), son of Taj-u-din, had evaded arrest during past nine years.
"Despite efforts, he averted arrest in a molestation case registered in police station Villgam in 2008. He was finally nabbed today," Javid Ahmad Sheikh, Ststaion House Officer (SHO) Villgam told Kashmir Wire.
A case under FIR (No 58/2008) under section 354 RPC stands registered against the accused.
A police official said that the accused tried to hide in a wooden box after spotting a police team.
"Following his arrest, police produced challan in the molestation case against him in a local court at Handwara," he added.
