HCBA ridicules Drabu’s ‘Kashmir not a political issue’ statement

Reacting to the former state finance minister Dr Haseeb Drabu’s statement that ‘Kashmir is not a political issue’ the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (HCBA) today termed it an act of “treachery and betrayal with the sacrifices given by the people of Kashmir for achieving their right of self-determination”.
“On a day, when UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussain’s comments on Kashmir situation unnerved India and the vehement articulation of the Pakistan’s UN Deputy Permanent Representative in Geneva, on Kashmir settlement, the speech of Haseeb Drabu, at annual PHD Chamber event at New Delhi that Kashmir is not just a political problem but a social issue, is reckless, illogical, ridiculous,” a spokesman of the HCBA, in a statement today, said, clarifying that “Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and its solution lies in the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions.”
Meanwhile, HCBA paid rich tributes to the three militants who were slain at Hakoora village of Anantnag district, expressing solidarity with the families these slain youth.
