Govt should respect court directions on attachment of Director: SKIMS Doctors

Stating that they have no problem with action of government against three faculty members of SKIMS, Doctors Coordination Committee Friday said that action against director SKIMS is “uncalled for.”
Addressing a press conference at SKIMS, Dr Mir Mushtaq said that government should respect the directions of High Court against the attachment order of Dr AG Ahangar.
“Doctors have no problem with suspension of three doctors. Anybody found on the wrong side of law should be dealt accordingly,” he said.
“The problem started with attachment of director SKIMS. We understand that director SKIMS had no direct role in whole episode. May I dare to ask this government how many deputy commissioners have been sacked for the merely because tehsildar was found taking bribe,” he said.
“The court gave its verdict, stayed the government order. But unfortunately, within one hour, the government modifies order which had been stayed by HC. So, if the government is itself disrespecting highest court of law of state what should be expected from that government,” he said.
He added that doctors will have no problem in accepting the final verdict of the court. “Nobody is above the law. Whatever will be the final verdict by the court over attachment of director SKIMS, we will abide by that,” he said.
When asked that doctors’ strike has affected patient care, general secretary resident doctors association SKIMS, Dr Ajaz, said: “You ask that to government.”
“Our only demand is that we should be told the reasonable reasons behind removal of Dr AG Ahangar other than the sting operation. If the reason behind his removal is only sting operation then the action is not justified. We will continue the strike till government comes up with reasonable explanation behind his removal,” said Dr Zubair, president SKIMS resident doctors association.
