Govt forms Working Group on knowledge initiatives for students


The J&K government on Friday constituted a five member group to work out modalities for operationalization of knowledge initiatives for the students in the state.
The order in this regard has been issued by General Administration Department (GAD).
The knowledge initiative group has been constituted to make JK students globally employable by using various means of technology, pedagogy and environment.
"Any person from J&K who goes to education system should be globally employable," said Advisor to Chief Minister, Amitabh Mattoo.
As per the GAD order, the five member working group will be headed by Amitabh Mattoo and minister for education Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari will co-chair the group.
Commissioner/Secretaty Higher Education Department Asgar Hassan Samoon has been appointed as member secretary of the group.
The other two members of the working group include Financial Commissioner (Coordination)/ Resident Commission, J&K Government, New Delhi, K B Agarwal, and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rohit Kansal.
The knowledge initiative group has been constituted to prepare a Vision Document for interventions in skills, teaching, learning, research and innovation that will be drawn from global best practices and traditional norms.
"The knowledge initiative group will also preparing policies, guidelines and schemes to ensure full literacy and competitive employability through an optimal use of existing infrastructure and human resources available in the State," reads the GAD order.
As per the order, the working group has been tasked to prepare a blueprint for Information and Communication Technology initiatives that can harness the human resources talent in the State.
"Knowledge initiative group will co-opt experts and members for this initiative, as deemed appropriate, in order to produce a time-bound report within twelve months," reads the government order.
"The Committee shall be serviced by the Higher Education Department," reads the order.
