Mandi hospital faces shortage of medicos


Inhabitants of Poonch Mandi tehsil today complained that sub district hospital Mandi was facing shortage of doctors.
They said eight posts of doctors are vacant in Sub District Hospital Mandi for last several years and burden of more than one lakh population of the area is on only five doctors posted in the hospital out of which one has been attached in Poonch hospital.
Members of civil society including leaders of the area said the government has left burden of whole population of Mandi on only five doctors.
They said that time and again issue of shortage of doctors has been raised in several quarters but their demands have reached to deaf ears only.
“We demand that all the vacant posts of doctors in the hospital should be filled at the earliest so that people get proper health care services from the hospital,” locals said.
When contacted, Block Medical Officer Mandi, said letters in this regard have been sent to higher authorities several times.
