Endo-urology workshop concludes at GMC


The two-day endo-urology workshop with renowned experts from J&K and outside as speakers and demonstrators concluded at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Friday.
Following the illuminating lectures on various aspects of endo-urology on day one, the second day of Advanced Endourology Workshop was a rich “scientific feast” for over 300 delegates. Dr SK Pal a renowned national faculty from New Delhi demonstrated a highly challenging case of Percutaneous Nephrostolithotripsy (PCNL) which was appreciated by the packed audience of urologists, surgeons and ex-faculty of GMC Srinagar. The live workshop started at 8 30 am wherein Dr Pal operated three cases of PCNL.
Another faculty from Chandigarh, Dr Anshumaan Kapoor demonstrated two cases of Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) for calyceal stones and two cases of Mini-PCNL using laser. Overall seven cases were operated by various advanced endo-urological techniques.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory function. Many dignitaries addressed the gathering, prom inent among them – Prof Ghulam Jeelani ex-principal and dean GMC Srinagar, Prof Showkat Jeelani head department of surgery at GMC Srinagar, Prof Biant Singh Bali head department of surgery Uttarakand Medical College and Prof Saleem Wani head department of urology at SKIMS Soura.
The speakers appreciated the efforts of Organizing secretary Prof Mufti Mahmood chief urologist and head of  surgical unit at GMC Srinagar for success of the workshop and raising the standard of work at department of surgery and teaching at GMC Srinagar. All patients operated in the workshop had an uneventful recovery and are doing well.
