Leading corporates shortlist more than 60 youth for recruitment at Shopian job fair


SHOPIAN: Over a thousand un-employed educated youth and students of different degree colleges and polytechnic college on Wednesday participated in a day-long ‘mega job fair’ organised by the District Employment & Counselling Centre, Shopian.
District Development Commissioner, Owais Ahmed inaugurated the one-day job fair alongwith ADDC Mohammed Salim Malik and Assistant Director Employment in presence of other district/sectoral officers. DDC and ADDC inspected the stalls installed by different departments and private companies.
While interacting with job-seekers, ADDC exhorted upon unemployed educated students to bring themselves under the ambit of employment/self-employment schemes being implemented by different departments.
The ADDC complimented the employment department for roping-in with private companies working within the district/division to provide employment to educated unemployed youth of the district.
He urged upon the students and unemployed youth not to remain dependent on public sector and instead “avail opportunities in ever diversifying private sector and self-employment opportunities available in government schemes”.
Earlier, officers from line departments and private companies explained in detail, nature of posts and self-employment opportunities available with their respective organisations/departments.
Assistant Director Employment, Seyed Abid Hussain besides Career Counselling Officer DE&CC Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad Rather spoke during the inaugural ceremony and educated the participants about different employment and self-employment schemes being run by the government. Dozens of stalls were set up by the line departments of district.
