SRINAGAR: Celebrating Ramzan in its true spirit of giving, Vodafone India is gifting smiles to its customers & associates in Kashmir by celebrating Iftaar with them during the holy month of Ramzan. These celebrations are an extension of Vodafone’s annual Ramzan celebrations, under which it supports education of underprivileged children through its ‘giving initiative’. This is an effort by Vodafone to commemorate Ramzan in its true sense by embracing the ‘spirit of giving’, an official handout issued here read.
This year, Vodafone’s Ramzan celebrations have entered the fifth year with the telecom service provider having donated over INR 23.7 lakh in the last four years for the education of underprivileged children as a part of its annual initiative to commemorate Ramzan. This initiative is part of Vodafone’s ‘Gift-A-Smile’ programme which involves various such projects throughout the year. While some of these initiatives are intended to gift smiles and happiness to those who need it the most, others seek to bring cheers to the valued customers of Vodafone.
“As part of its ‘Gift-A-Smile’ initiative, this year, Vodafone is gifting smiles to its customers and associates alike by celebrating Iftaar with them,” read the document adding any customer walking into any Vodafone Store or Mini-Store was being offered dates and juices, with which they could break their fast in the evening. Vodafone would continue with this gesture for the entire Ramzan, it added.
“For its associates in Kashmir, including distributors, retailers, channel partners and its own employees, Vodafone India is organising Iftaar get-togethers where all of them break their fast together with juices/sharbat, fruits and dates,” further read the handout adding that the world-famous Wazwan cuisine was also being served to the attendees in the Kashmiri Trami Style at these get-togethers.
Extending Ramzan greetings to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Rajat Avasthi, Business Head, Punjab, HP and J&K, Vodafone India, said, “The holy month of Ramzan inspires everyone to embrace the spirit of ‘giving’ i.e., thinking beyond one’s personal gains, making an effort to do something for greater good and giving back happiness to the world in which you live. It is this noble message of Ramzan which inspired us to embark on our ‘giving’ initiative four years ago. Under this initiative, we have donated INR 23.7 lakh in the last four years for the education of underprivileged children. This year, we have tried to make the Ramzan celebrations memorable for our customers and associates by organizing Iftaar-related activities for them. We will continue with these efforts in years to come.”
Starting from May 28, 2017, Vodafone has been donating 1 paisa from every outgoing call or recharge and Rs 5 from every new activation in Kashmir Province during the entire month of Ramzan towards the education of underprivileged children, further noted the handout.
